Gregory Heldt is the Product Stewardship Manager for Materion, the world’s only fully integrated mine-to-mill manufacturer and supplier of engineered beryllium-containing materials. In this role, he provides direct customer and vendor support throughout the supply chain to minimize potential environmental, health and safety risks associated with the production and handling of beryllium. Additionally, he co-leads Materion’s beryllium-related occupational epidemiology research efforts in collaboration with outside agencies and academic personnel to reduce the risk of CBD and beryllium sensitization.
Prior to joining the Product Stewardship team, Mr. Heldt was the Senior EHS Program Manager for Materion’s primary beryllium processing facility in Elmore, OH where he directed the site’s industrial hygiene program, completed beryllium exposure assessments and risk characterizations, and ensured implementation of the Beryllium Worker Protection Model. In other roles with Materion, he served as Senior Environmental Engineer with a focus on Title V Clean Air Act compliance, the beryllium NESHAP, industrial ventilation design and maintenance, and other major environmental and regulatory programs. He also previously worked as an Occupational Epidemiology Research Assistant and published a paper on the diagnostic value of the beryllium bronchoalveolar lavage lymphocyte proliferation test in 2015.
Mr. Heldt earned his Master of Science (MS) in Industrial Hygiene and his Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology both from the University of Toledo, College of Medicine, and is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
